About

At Kenai Investments, we help individuals and families transition into retirement with a tax-integrated plan - not just an investment allocation. Our work is built around real decisions: Roth strategy, RMD sequencing, retirement income design, spending clarity, and portfolio management that supports the life you actually want to live.

Based in Amarillo, Texas, the firm is led by Roger Remling and supported by Amy Remling. Together, we work with households across Texas and several other states, helping clients coordinate taxes, investments, retirement income, and long-term planning into one practical roadmap.

Retirement Transition Plan

Retirement is not a single event. It is a multi-year transition that requires coordinated decisions across taxes, income, spending, and portfolio management. Our process is designed to help clients move through that transition with clarity and confidence.

Step 1

Portfolio Review

We review how your current portfolio is structured, where risk is concentrated, how taxes affect the design, and whether it actually supports the retirement you want.

Step 2

Tax Strategy

We model Roth conversions, future RMD exposure, bracket management, and tax-aware withdrawal sequencing so taxes do not quietly erode retirement income.

Step 3

Income Design

We coordinate withdrawals, Social Security timing, spending targets, and cash reserves to build a retirement income plan that is sustainable and understandable.

Step 4

Ongoing Execution

We actively manage the plan over time - updating portfolio strategy, re-evaluating tax opportunities, and adjusting the roadmap as life, markets, and legislation change.

What We Actually Deliver

Kenai Investments planning session

Roth strategy and RMD sequencing

We do not treat taxes as an afterthought. We model multi-year Roth opportunities, future RMD exposure, and account sequencing so clients can make decisions before tax problems become permanent.

Retirement income planning

We help answer the question every retiree asks: What can we safely spend? That means building a practical withdrawal framework, not just a generic projection.

Real portfolio management

Our work goes beyond basic mutual fund and ETF allocations. Depending on the strategy, portfolios may include individual equities, tactical changes, and options-based income tools where appropriate. The portfolio is managed to support the plan - not the other way around.

Ongoing guidance through real decisions

Retirement is full of decisions that do not fit neatly into a template: selling a business, helping family, relocating, managing concentrated stock, or deciding when enough is enough. We help clients think through those choices with discipline and perspective.

Meet the Team

Roger Remling

Roger passed the Certified Financial Planner exam in 2009 and has spent more than two decades helping clients navigate financial planning, investment management, and tax strategy.

His background in tax and strategic planning allows him to build retirement plans that are not only investment-aware, but also tax-aware. That combination is central to the Kenai approach.

Roger's focus is not simply helping clients grow wealth. It is helping them use that wealth intelligently - building, preserving, and distributing it in a way that aligns with their goals and life stage.

Amy Remling

Amy serves as operations and marketing manager and plays a key role in creating a smooth, professional client experience.

Her attention to detail, organizational discipline, and client-first mindset help keep the firm responsive and efficient while also supporting Kenai's growth and visibility.

Together, Roger and Amy have built Kenai Investments around long-term relationships, practical advice, and a commitment to helping clients make better financial decisions with confidence.

A Firm Built on Relationships and Results

We believe clients deserve more than a generic plan and a quarterly statement. They deserve thoughtful advice, ongoing management, and a roadmap they can actually use.

If you are within 10 years of retirement - or already retired and looking for more clarity around taxes, withdrawals, and portfolio management - we would be glad to start the conversation.
